Sun Protection Policy
Statement of intent
To provide opportunities throughout the year for outside play and activities whilst protecting the children from the harmful effects of the sun.
Aim
We aim to have an outdoor play session everyday throughout the year as well as having certain activities occasionally situated outside. By taking what measures we can to protect the children in our care from the harmful effects of the sun we can help reduce the risk of skin cancer in later life caused by UV radiation.
Method
-
Include sun-safety in our summer term activities.
-
Re-arrange our timetable to enable outside play earlier in the day when hot weather is forecast.
-
Inform parents that they can supply sun cream for their own child and sign a permission form so that a member of staff can apply it before going outside.
-
Request that parents provide a sun hat for their child. Spare hats are available for children who have forgotten their own.
