Parental Involvement Policy
Statement of intent
We believe that children benefit most from early years education and care when parents /carers and settings work together in partnership. We hope that parents/carers will feel able to become actively involved with our group during the time that their child is with us.
Aim
Our aim is to support parents as their children’s first and most important educators by involving them in their children’s education and in the full life of our pre-school. In carrying out the following procedures, we will ensure all parents are included.
Method
We will meet these aims though the following procedure:
-
Make parents/carers aware of our systems and policies. We inform all parents about how our pre-school is run through access to written information and through regular informal communication. We endeavour to ensure parents understand the information that is given to them
-
Encourage and support parents/carers to play an active part in the management of our pre-school by joining the committee.
-
Inform all parents on a regular basis about their children’s progress
-
Involve parents/carers in the shared record keeping about their children - either formally or informally - and ensure parents have access to their children’s written developmental records
-
Provide opportunities for parents/carers to contribute their own skills, knowledge and interests to the activities of the pre-school.
-
Encourage parents/carers to help on the ‘duty rota’. This allows them to see what happens during a session and how their children spend their time.
-
All parents/carers are informed of about issues that arise, forthcoming events including meetings, outings, photo sessions, fundraising and parties.
-
Consult with parents/carers about the times of meetings to avoid excluding anyone.
-
Inform all parents of the systems for registering complaints or suggestions and endeavour to ensure these are understood. All parents have access to our written complaints procedure.
-
Display information about the curriculum on the notice board.
